Cara Wood is a Senior Health Project Coordinator for the University of Rochester Medical Center - Center for Community Practice (CCP). In this role, she works on projects related to LGBTQ+ health, PrEP, sexual health, cultural responsiveness, and client-centered care. Cara also has a passion for information design, and loves to develop products that are visually appealing, as well as educational.
Cara has been working in the field of HIV and STI prevention for over 6 years since graduating from Nazareth College of Rochester with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy. Prior to joining the CCP team, she worked at Trillium Health in Rochester NY, where she pioneered the role of LGBTQ Care Coordinator, before transitioning to serving as a community health educator, focused on LGBTQ+ Health. Cara is passionate about health equity, and believes that a social justice lens, lifting up voices from the community, and inspecting the roots of health disparities are integral to ending the HIV epidemic.
